Birth Place: Leeds. Yorkshire. England.
Occupation: Semi-Retired Musician/Radio Show Host.
Words that best describe you?
Pretty much an easy going, fun loving guy, with a hint of zany on the side.
Who has been your biggest influence in your life?
Hard to say… I’ve met so many interesting people throughout my life. Musicians, politicians, actors, but I think if it came down to morals and values. I would say my Mom.
When did you become out to friends and family? I kind of blasted the closet doors open at the age of eighteen, and have been a noisy queen ever since… lol
I would give anything to meet… J.K.Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. I think she’s a Brilliant writer with a superb imagination. I also like the fact that she has given so much back to the community.
Your idea of a perfect evening is?
A night with a few friends, have dinner, a glass of wine or two and generally speaking about all or nothing.
The last book I read was …. Janet Evanovich. She’s a delight to read, very entertaining and extremely comical in her series of novels “One for the Money”, I think she’s on novel 21 in that series. She’s a riot.
My favorite movies/plays are?
I like a lot of mystery suspense movies, then I like Sci –Fi movies, romance… Pretty eclectic in that field. But, my favorite play was “Blood Brothers.” I can’t remember the author.
Nobody knows that I …… Then that would no longer be a secret, would it?? LOL
What had been your biggest setback or failure in life and how did you overcome it? My own setbacks, are my insecurities, thinking I’m not good enough, or good looking enough and the way to overcome it, if you ever really do, is to say “fuck it” Stop wasting your time in feeling sorry for yourself. Deal with it and move on.
If I could meet my younger self, I would tell him… Absolutely nothing!! I wouldn’t listen anyway. LOL
What are the biggest challenges you have as a gay man after 40?
I think the biggest challenge is, coming to terms with your mortality. You see a wrinkle here, a wobble there, then the panic sets in. My Mother once told me, “When you get older, you become invisible.” That’s not going to happen.. I’m going to be “Loud & Proud.”
What would you like to say to the Gay Life after 40 tribe?
Try not to fear getting older. It happens to the best of us. I’m fortunate enough to be married to a wonderful guy, we have been together for 25 years. So in many ways I’m a very lucky guy. I try to focus on the good things happening in my life. I have 4 pit-bull rescue dogs. They keep me busy. I’m actually quite happy. Just be yourself that will be enough for your true friends.
